Michael is a California native, born in San Leandro as the third child of Greek immigrants who emigrated to America following the second World War. Growing up he spent lots of time playing in his yard, digging holes, playing sports and getting dirty. After graduating from San Leandro High School in 1979, Michael matriculated to UC Berkeley where he graduated with Honors in 1983 with a degree in Geology. Following graduation, Michael traveled to New Zealand where he spent the next 6 months working as a whitewater rafting guide in some of the most beautiful canyons on Earth. For over 30 years Michael has continued to explore rivers in his free time and has guided boats down some of the most beautiful rivers on the planet: The White Nile in Uganda, The Futalefu in Chile, The Colorado through the Grand Canyon, The Katun in Russia, and The Shotover in New Zealand

Michael started his professional career as a Geotechnical Engineer in the mid 80's doing slope stabilization and hillside remediation work and then later living and working in Northwest Nevada's Jackson Mountains doing geology research with Cal Tech graduate students.  Longing for more adventure, Michael left the professional world of Geology for the slopes of Steamboat Springs, Colorado where he worked as a carpenter building homes and learning to ski. Three years later, Michael returned to California to help run a nonprofit youth exchange program that brought together American university students with university students from the former Soviet Union as part of a citizen's diplomacy effort. Each year, students from both countries would spend time learning about each others' countries by travelling to and living in their respective countries.  For the next four years Michael worked with Project RAFT (Russians and American for Teamwork) as their educational exchange coordinator and assisted in organizing international whitewater rafting championships held in Russia, The US, Costa Rica, and Turkey. Michael also helped to develop the educational curricula used during the programs annual exchange programs to Siberia where American and Soviet University students would raft for 3 weeks through the Altai region on the Katun River. Unfortunately or fortunately, Michael was in Moscow on Red Square during the 1987 Coup when Russian president Mikhail Gorbachev was kidnapped after which  corruption and political unrest prevented any further exchange programs to that part of the world.

Fast forward to 1993 and Michael met his wife, Polyxene. Two years later they were married after which Michael was accepted to business school and enrolled at the Olin School of Business Management at Washington University in St. Louis. After completing his MBA, Michael and his wife returned to California where Michael spent the next 9 years working in the enterprise sales group for a start-up Telecommunications firm called Level 3 Communications. In his capacity a director of sales, Michael was responsible for major global accounts working with Oracle, HP, Intel, Cisco and SAP where he transacted and was responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue to Level 3.

After finishing his high tech career Michael returned to the trades which he had learned (and loved) during his three years living in Colorado and following his time in Russia. Having built many traditional homes Michael and his wife wanted to do something different with their own home so following a year of research Michael and his wife designed and built one of the first ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) homes in Santa Clara county.  To complete the home, Michael and his family traveled the world collecting building materials from many European and Middle Eastern countries. All told Michael collected 20, 40 Foot containers of building materials and had these delivered to Los Gatos where he worked for 2 years to assemble his home.

Following the completion of his own home in 2007 Michael continued working on a variety of building projects in the larger San Jose metropolitan area eventually working into the commercial arena where he has spent the past 5 years splitting his time between commercial and residential work. To date his commercial practice includes multiple Medical offices and Retail shopping center Tenant Improvements. His portfolio of projects includes a surgery center,  a medical spa, a vascular laboratory, a sleep study center,  a dental practice, and several very large custom home projects.
